Mindfulness and compassion in response to racism

This research considers the impacts of racism on experiences racialized people, and how mindfulness compassion might serve as resources for their recovery resistance. Applying ecological theories mind critical phenomenology, study presents self-reported 30 adult organized into five focus groups practitioners teachers compassion, with four affinity (Indigenous, Black, South Asian, E./S.E. Asian) one contrastive White group. Resulting data were clustered under seven salient topics: identity, racism, oppression, trauma, motivation, mindfulness, compassion. Participants described impactful in responses to, from, through identity (authenticity belonging), unlearning internalized empowerment (cultural reinvigoration), social change, contributing to reversing self-coldness opening reconciliation.
